    Montgomery Half Marathon presented by HMMA and Capital City 5k

    GENERAL INFORMATION

     

    Registration Fees

     

    • Montgomery Half Marathon – $50 until 9/15/09 – $60 until 9/30/09 – $75 race weekend
    • Capital City 5K – $20 until 9/15/09 – $25 until 9/30/09 – $35 race weekend
    • Kids Mile – $10 until 9/15/09 – $15 until 9/30/09 – $20 race weekend

     

    Entry Requirements


    • You must be 12 years of age or older on race day, October 3, 2009, to register for the half marathon.
    • There is no age limit on the 5K (3.1 miles).
    • If you are under 18 years of age, you must have a parent or legal guardian sign the Entry Form in order to participate.
    • Race numbers are required to participate in the half marathon.

    • Participants have four hours, based on clock time, to complete the half marathon course.  You must be able to complete the half marathon in this time frame.

    • Baby joggers, in-line skates, bicycles, unauthorized vehicles and unregistered runners are prohibited on the course.  No pets or smoking on course, please!  Any participant breaking one of these rules will be removed from the course, disqualified and will not receive the finisher amenities.
    • Entry fees can be paid by check (personal, cashier’s or certified) or money order.  Please do not send cash.
    • Mail-in registrations MUST be post marked by September 26, 2009.  Entries received after September 30, 2009 will not be accepted and you will need to register at packet pick up.
    • Entry fees must be paid by credit or debit card only with online registration.  Online registration through Active.com will be available through September 30, 2009.  After this date registration will only be available at packet pick up.
    • Registration over the phone or by fax will not be accepted.
    • Registrations are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

    Four Hour Time Limit for Half Marathon

    The Montgomery Half Marathon presented by HMMA is open to runners and walkers of all abilities

    • A four hour time limit has been set, which means a participant must maintain a consistent pace of approximately 18 minutes per mile.
    • The famous “Balloon Lady” will be on the course as the “official last finisher” of the half marathon.  Staying in front of the “balloon lady” is extremely important for the safety of all of our participants and will also ensure that you will finish the race before the four hour time limit.  The Montgomery Police will be opening up the roads once they see her so make sure she is always behind you!

    Participant Amenities

    • The first 1200 registered participants in the Montgomery Half Marathon presented by HMMA will receive a race bag which will contain a race bib with the timing device attached and a short sleeved technical race shirt.  Register early to be sure your receive a race shirt!
    • All registered participants in the Capital City 5K will receive a race bag which will contain a race bib with the timing device attached and a race t-shirt.  Register early to be sure you receive a race t-shirt!
    • Half Marathon finishers will receive a commemorative Montgomery Half Marathon presented by HMMA finisher’s medal as they cross the finish line.  Only 1200 will be available so register early to ensure you receive one!
    • The Post Race Party features live music, lots of juicy southern barbeque from Jim ‘N Nicks Restaurants, plenty of cold beer from Michelob Ultra and sodas and water.  There may even be post race massages available!  The party will take place at The Riverwalk Amphitheater a short distance past the finish line.  The address is 355 Coosa Street (at the end of Coosa Street to the river).  All food and festivities are included in your race entry fee.  Meal tickets may be purchased for $5 per person for family and friends not participating in the race.  All proceeds from meal ticket purchases will benefit Kid One Transport.  It’s a good time for all!!

    Fluid Stations & Course Support

    Seven fully staffed and equipped fluid stations will be on the half marathon course.  Water and sports drinks will be available at each stop.  Clearly marked miles and digital clocks will be at the beginning of each mile.  Portalets will be plentiful along the course.  An energy gel will be available on the course as well.

    The 5K will have one water stop with water and sports drinks available.

    Medical

    Emergency personnel with the city of Montgomery will be on call.  Medical stations will be available at the start and finish line.  If you have medical concerns related to the course or to your personal situation, please inform the race staff by writing any necessary medical information on the back of your race number and by putting an emergency contact number on your entry form.

    Awards / Age Divisions

    Awards for the half marathon and 5K will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each of the following age divisions:

    U14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 & over.

    2009 Prize Structure – Half Marathon & 5K

    • Overall winners are not eligible for age group awards
    • Age group awards will be based and determined on chip time.
    • Gun time is used to determine overall winners.
